Women in science: Dr. Brenda Milner

As promised, in celebration of International Women’s Day, SIN Canada would like to celebrate one of our GREAT Science participants, a pioneering women in science, Fellow of the Royal Society of London (FRS), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC).

If you haven’t already guessed (from our previous clues, found in this post), our post today is in honour of Dr. Brenda Milner:).

Now in her 90s, Dr. Milner continues to be an inspiration to scientists at large! She is still actively involved in research at the Montreal Neurological Institute, and as a professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University.  She is a recipient of the Order of Canada (CC), the National Order of Quebec (GOQ), is an active member of her community (check out her TEDxMcGill presentation on YouTube), and has her own detailed, dedicated Wikipedia page if you want to learn more :)!

Dr. Milner participated in our women in science round table in late January.  During this time she agreed to do a video blog with us, which we would like to share with you today.

So, in celebration of International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate Dr. Milner, and the many other strong, vibrant female role models out there who have succeeded, and paved the way as we move towards a more gender equal society! Who inspires you?
