UK IP enforcement – Sharing best practices

The UK Intellectual Property Office’s Intelligence Hub Head – Huw Watkins – led discussions with officials of the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police on intellectual property infringement practices.  The discussions covered prevalent modes of infringement, tracking the source of fake goods, prominent fake goods routes and how UK IPO’s Enforcement Directorate works to tackle IP crime in the UK.

Mr. Arun Kampani (Additional Commissioner of Police, Economic Offence Wing, Delhi Police) shared Delhi Police’s experiences with fighting IP crime.  The discussions were open and informal.  All enforcement officers had an animated conversation on the issues each face in dealing with IP crime in their jurisdictions. Many similarities emerged, and they each went back with valuable insights into how IP crime is a cross-border issue, dealing with which requires concerted efforts of all stakeholders involved. dsc_5165
