Sarah Russell

I am 22 years old, and joined the Diplomatic Service Fast Stream within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in October 2007. For my first year, I will be based in London working as a Policy Officer.

I graduated from King’s College London in July this year, having attained First Class Honours in War Studies and History. Since joining university, I have worked part-time to fund my studies in a wide range of industries – from retail work to executive search. I have also undertaken a number of internships, including three months working in Credit Risk within Corporate Banking for a major UK bank, and three months with a Security and Political Risk Management firm.

I focused my studies on International Relations and contemporary international politics, with particular emphasis on the Middle East. I travelled extensively in Europe and Asia during my gap year before university, and more recently have backpacked around a number of countries in the Middle East. Currently, I live in London with friends and am looking forward to starting my career with the FCO.
