War Child

On 19 October War Child, the international children’s charity, release a single, “I Got Soul”. The idea is to raise the issue of child soldiers, the effects of war, and the work War Child does with children in Iraq, Afghanistan, DRC and Uganda. The song is based on the memorable Killers line “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier” and all the artists recording it are big names in the UK’s urban scene. I must confess Grime doesn’t get a lot of play in the Miliband household, but I'm sure this will be a big hit and will raise awareness about these conflicts.

Sir, awareness about war children is must coz the involvement of tender life in war is itself a crime. Strict actions must be taken against those countries who are involved in war-child crime. [Prabhat Misra, District Savings Officer, Etawah, U.P., India]

during the Vietnam war, the war to save Cambodia and the war with China, even in very hard situations, Vietnam never use children in wars. I think evil terrorist in Iraq, Afghanistan, DRC and Uganda don't have a soul, they are not justice, they haven't done any just deed, or just war like they said. Soon or late they will be destroyed.

Thank you for drawing attention to the work of War Child. I hope you won't mind me also drawing attention to a BBC World Service Programme on "Bosnia's War Babies" - schedule of broadcasting at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p002vsn4/episodes/upcoming

Dear David, thanks a lot for yr. first-rate report. It's just important that you've described War Child's work so well.I think that too much people in the EU or also worldwide don't know that this charity organisation is existing.Naturally many of them can't know that they released this single"I got soul".Hope also that it will become a huge hit-not only in the UK but at least in the entire EU too. Thanks for yr. tip 'cause of the "Get the T-Shirt" action.I surely will not wear one at my "household",I'm 45,but I'll get some for 3 kids in my neighbourhood. Thanks to Owen E2 in re. of the BBC World Service Programme. So far,I only knew 'bout the BBC World Service Trust and their work in Africa. Nevertheless:The topic is War Child and they really deserve respect, more attention and support. Best wishes, Ingo-Steven Wais
