UNGA Re-Cap 2: Middle East

The Security Council addressed the Middle East in special session on Friday morning.  My speech is here.    Settlements are one obstacle to a two state solution, but so are Hamas rockets.  And the unspeakable language of President Ahmadinejad about Jews in his speech to the General Assembly on Monday does nothing to help create an atmosphere of trust between Israelis and Palestinians.

President Ahmadinejad also said at the debate that in Iraq, “millions of people have been killed or displaced, and the occupiers, without a sense of shame, are still seeking to solidify their position in the political geography of the region and to dominate oil resources,” . Not many people would disagree with that statement. The historical record clearly backs what he says. David's attacks against Iran and accusations of anti-semetism is merely a clumsy tactic to distract away from disastorous UK policy in that region. I also read interview in Prospect where David claims that Ahmadinejad threatened to 'blow Israel out the water'. Ahmadinejad never made such a statement and David really needs to quit repeating US propaganda.

Here is a copy of the speech made by the Prez of Iran as published in Haaretz. In it you will note that he does not express unspeakable language about jews, but he does condemn Zionism. He believes the Zionist system of Israel will collapse and he supports a referendum for the Palestinian people to determine the type of state they want to live in. He wrongly believes that zionists control the economic and monetary systems. The Jewish lobby in America is powerful but I'd say the military-industrial complex in the US more powerful. It is this entity that seeks to expand towards eastern europe and promote conflict in the middle-east and south central asia. Poor David doesn't know what he is getting into. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1024097.html

Hmm. So much for British neutrality in the 'conflict'. David, do they ever take you seriously about anything? I think you're way out of your depth on having any influence on middle-eastern affairs. And I think you'll find the settlements and occupation are the core problem. The rocket attacks just stem from it.

David, There is much steak about Iran in ME. Although Iranians working hard to gain support for their case of nuculr saga , they using their influences in Lebanon and Iraq to demonstrate their mangling in the Arab nation here and there. there are two realities here: 1- After three round of negotiations between US officials and Iranians in Baghdad US and the world start to see some flip action on the ground in Iraq does not the matter bad of good for Iraqi but most importantly US and the surge by GWB, but as from Iraqi side Iran played and playing major roll of keeping US happy with out com. 2- Most Arab now have their doubt about Iran and here interest in nucler matter, and Iran have some rejection inside Arab nation due to here past behaviors in the region from invading three islands and Iraq war and Mullah attitude to Iraq bloodshed by Iraqi mangling and supported parties which organically midwifed by Iranians. On public domains there are disfigurement between Iranians and US but the fact is Iranian publicly said they helped US in their war in Afghanistan and Iran and its came from high rank Iranian Ali Khamenie
