EU and US: focussing on working together

Despite the impression given by some press reports this morning, EU Foreign Ministers meeting in Marseilles agreed our own priorities for joint work with a new US administration, including Middle East Peace Process and Afghanistan/Pakistan. Not a shopping list of asks, still less demands. The focus is on how the transatlantic alliance can work together. And that means Europe living up to its responsibilities. And we have not written an open letter.

David, does "Europe living up to its responsibilities" include scrapping the Treaty of Lisbon if even one country votes against it? If so then I can't see Europe being taken seriously even by such a gullible people such as the Americans.

Mr.David, the world order is changing and so too the strategies have to be changed. New global challenges keep cropping up which could be countered with innovative and long term perspective governance strategy. Emphasis on deeper trade relations with the emerging economy and the world's largest democracy India, which has got great potential for investment and trade opportunities in the Infrastructure Sector. In the last 2 years there was a significant shift in the Bush Administration on their trade relations with India including the Indo-US civil nuclear accord. Both the US Presdiential hopeful in their agenda have emphasised on a new dimension to relations with India. David, I have been knocking your door for 5 months now on my research project of "Foreign Trade and Investment Opportunites in Infrastructure Sector" for British Investors which has sustained and guaranteed long term returns with higher margins. Experts have analysed that there's still around 60 percent scope for investment in that area, which has got a potential of £200 billion investment opportunity for the British Investors. I look forward for your nod to proceed further. Sincerely Yours / Venkat.
