Burma Blogger Jailed

See the article from the BBC about the crackdown in Burma.  10 more journalists have been jailed according to Reporters without Borders. 2008 has been the year without progress in Burma.  The Secretary General of the UN has postponed his trip to the region to seek political progress to follow his humanitarian intervention after cyclone Nargis.  That is a priority for 2009

It seems that politicians think that Burma is an anagram of Zimbabwe. No wonder they can't solve a crossword puzzle let alone an international crisis.

This is unrelated. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to David and everyone at the FCO!

Hi Mr Miliband...I appreciate your sensibility to human rights violations and regional problems all over the world...I usually look at your blog and often try to read your articles...Thanks to god, I was not born in Burma, but, actually what's the exact solution for ensuring the future of humanity against repressive regimes, particularly military and religious ones!!!!

Merry Christmas,Sir! Just think that different countries have different situations!Respect is the most important thing.

The Burmese government elementarily twists the human rights declaration by suffocating the freedom of speech. Democracy cannot dwelve in the place where the fundamental law of humanity isn't respected. I appreciate the EU's decision.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Shame on our politicians for the political selective outrage. Is your administration not the main funder for the murderous Ethiopian regime that was accused recently by human rights watch report of heinous crimes ?

The Palestinian Crisis in Gaza 27.12.08, Dear David Miliband, I am seriously concerned about the latest barbaric actions of Israel. On Saturday 27th December alone, the first day of bombing, over 250 individuals lost their lives, many of them women and children. This relentless attack against innocent Palestinian civilians is yet another example of Israel's violent and inhumane policy towards the occupied territories. I urge you and your party to demand the Israeli government to stops its bloody campaign in the Palestine territories in general and the Gaza Strip in particular.

2008, the year of the Beijing Olympics, is about to slip away and along with it Britain's support for Tibet's distinct identity. Are you that uncomfortable talking about the abandonment of Tibet that you find it impossible to mention your concession of China's sovereignty even in your own blog? A shameful New Year for you and us.

Mr Miliband, I would like to express my disgrace at the double standards the west exercises with regards to DEMOCRACY, TOLERANCE, JUSTICE, FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM... Is Hamas not the DEMOCRATICALLY elected government of palestine? Do the innocent men, women and children of palestine not deserve JUSTICE?? Is Israel not TERRORISING the innocent and already abused citizens of Palestine?? Why is it then that OUR government continues to support the US who supply the arms/weapons/latest high tech military equipment to israel...What does that make Britian?....Allies of the Terrorists? We ask for your support, for the innocent people of Gaza...STOP THE WAR, STOP THE KILLING..

Mr Miliband Why do you not simply be honest and criticize the Israeli government for their brutal attach on Gaza. They are once again breaking international law. I am appalled at your concern for Israel's security. For God's sake, can you not think about the Palestinians. Have they not suffered enough. I am no friend of Israel and would encourage you to cut all ties with this rogue state. They are not a democratic state. They practice apartheid policies. Is it not time to consider a one state solution for all people in the region. Israel has lost is right to be a separate state. Yours sincerely Paul Macdonald

Dear David, Happy New Year to you, and i wish we could say the same for the people in Gaza! Not only these people have been under oppressive siege since about 1.5 years now, in addition they are punished by the Israeli killing machine. There is no regard for the Palestinians as human beings, Israel an Occupier! has right to self defense, but the Palestinians the Occupied! has no right to exist! What applies to the world elsewhere does not apply to the Palestinians. Israel is always right, always just, always victim, always peaceful, always obeys international laws. Please bring UN peace keeping forces to Palestine! Enough is enough! Enough hypocrisy. Enough hypocrisy! Please stop the WAR, stop the OCCUPATION! For a JUST peace.

What do you think about the global economic crisis?

This isn't about Israel but I don't know where else to write. We were so impressed whn you were Secretary for the Environment. I was shocked when I heard you evading the question on the World at One the other day when asked about the third runway at Heathrow. You wouldn't oppose it! Its so disappointing you have turned out like all the rest!
