African Union agreement on internally displaced persons

It’s extraordinary that there are over 11 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Africa. The African Union statement  highlights the problem across at least 20 African states where people are currently internally displaced. Now we need to turn the words into action and help these displaced people.

Sir, displacement is the anthropogenic, painfull, and forced problem. This is really a big challenge before the WORLD COMMUNITY to solve this and provide humanitarian help to AFRIKANS. There should be a treaty like successfull Pelindaba treaty, among the Afrikan nations where this problem is existing, to solve the problem. Sir, thanks for raising this humanitarian problem in your blog. [Prabhat Misra, District Savings Officer, Etawah, U.P., India]

Dear David, I do agree to you that it´s time by turning words into actual assistance. That´ s why the International Community of democratic states urgently needs as a 1st step more capacity to act.I don´t think that the 53 African countries can´t solve such a big problem alone. The question is how to handle it in the best way? I´ve read this African Union statement in re. of the Kampala Convention and think, that point 11"..Affirming our.." could lead into the right direction. But also the fact that you are the 1st Foreign Secretary in the EU who is drawing attention to desperately situation of these millions of peoples in Africa. Best wishes , Ingo-Steven Wais
