Some good news for UK manufacturing. Toyota announced last Friday it will build start production of a new hybrid vehicle in Derbyshire from the middle of next year. Nissan also announced that it will start producing lithium ion batteries for electric cars in Sunderland.
The Nissan investment is supported by €400m from the European Investment Bank to accelerate the introduction of low carbon vehicles. These investments will have knock-on benefits for parts producers and other suppliers.
