About Rob

Rob Macaire is married to Alice and has two daughters aged 9 and 11. They have all been in Kenya since September 2008, and all love the country already, for the warmth of the welcome that people have given them here, as well as of course for the beauty of the country and the climate. Rob is a career diplomat, and has lived in Romania, the US and India before coming to Kenya. He is 43, loves the fact that the Kenyan press describes that as 'youthful', and has worked on foreign policy or security policy issues for most of his career.

Outside work, his favourite pastime has always been sailing, and he used to race offshore quite seriously. Nowadays he is more likely to be found teaching his children to sail, or being taught by them how to ride a horse. Other hobbies include history, poetry, and exploring the country he is living in.
