Yes, Vietnam didn't couldn't join ASEAN to protest the arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi. The official reason is that it is the internal affair of Myanmar but everybody clearly understand that there are 2 reasons for that uncivilized act: 1- Vietnam did the same things lately to the democracy activists: Father Nguyen van Ly, Lawyer Le thi Cong Nhan, Lawyer Nguyen Van Dai, Nguyen thi Nghien, Lawyer Le cong Dinh, blogger Dieu Cay, blogger Nguoi Buon Gio, etc. How can they say differently from such a ridiculuous reason? 2- Myanmar and Vietnam are both puppets of China. Like North Korea which is better in terms of protecting their land and sovereignty, both Vietnam and Myanmar cannot become democratic if China is still under a totalitarian regime. How can they say differently if China doesn't allow them? So, please don't say that Vietnam didn't have any opinion about this barbaric act of Myanmar. They did and they, in a sense, agreed and applauded.
