Becoming a digital diplomat

We've advertised 3 Digital Diplomacy jobs today: a senior editor, a web prototype developer and a digital producer for our engagement work. It's an exciting time to be working on this kind of stuff in the Foreign Office - there's a lot we want to do, and we need brilliant people to help us to do it all. my friend wants one of these jobs but is worried about the background checks. does it matter if you have an unconventional lifestyle?
