I came to Cairo to work as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in April 2007. This was a happy return – I’d spent nearly a year here in 1992/3, learning Arabic. After that I had my first Embassy job in Kuwait, until 1996. Since then I have worked on a variety of issues. Some have been Middle East related (in the Foreign Office and Cabinet Office). But I have also worked in media/communications (in London and Madrid) and on consular issues (in London after the Asian tsunami).
I am in Cairo with my wife and two sons. We are trying to make sure we get the best out of Egypt – but time passes too quickly here...
